1. Under Ecuadorian law a woman can be returned to her parents if her husband finds out she is not a virgin on their wedding night.
(that is interesting because I noticed that the women in Ecuador dress and behave very seductively.....so how could they remain a virgin?)

2. Cotapaxi, just south of Quito is one of the highest active volcanoes in the world. (elevation 19,388 ft)

3. Ecucador owns the wildlife-rich Galapagos, off the coast about 600 miles.

4. Ecuador offers culinary adventures. You can test your stomach by sampling roasted cuy (guinea pig), tronquito (bull penis soup), or yaguarlocro (potato soup made with sprinklings of blood).

5. The night before the San Pedro and San Pablo festivals - held on June 29 every year - bonfires are lit in the streets and women who want to fall pregnant jump over them.

6. Ecuador is smaller than the US state of Nevada.

8. The 'Panama hat' actually comes from Ecuador. The straw hats got their name because they were shipped through the Panama canal on their way to the US.

Regarding the foods you listed...I've had the cuy, which I actually liked, but I think I'll pass on the blood in the soup. As far as the tronquito...uhmmm...I'd have to work up my appetite for that one! =)
